Message of The Dean

 

 Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering:

 

It is my sincere hope that you will find this brochure useful, in order to enable you make the decision to join the Benadir University in Mogadishu for the study programme of your choice.

  It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the first Faculty of engineering & Technology realized after 17 years lost in Benadir University. Whether you are a high school student thinking about a career in engineering, a graduate engineer planning to work towards a graduate degree or a practicing engineer wanting information or advice, we are here to meet your needs Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering & Technology home page where you will find information about our academic programs, student organizations, and much, much more.

  I am very happy to be the Dean of an exciting engineering and proud of an excellent programs and facilities, whose graduates are highly demanded by private and public and construction companies.

The Faculty of Engineering was formed on 16th September 2005. It is among the four faculties available in Benadir University. In its initial years, the faculty offers two engineering programmes, namely major Civil Engineering and major Industrial Engineering.

Our goal is to provide the best possible engineering education for the talented people of our community and to prepare them to actively contribute to maintaining the country as the world leader in technology innovation.

Our aim is to provide an opportunity for the youth to realize their full potential and obtain a wide range of knowledge, enabling them to contribute to and participate in the reconstruction and development of their societies.

For students, that means access to a rich curricula taught by professional faculty members in a wide range of engineering programs. It means access to scholarships when they graduated. And it means access to employment.  

Our goal is to continue to prepare the future generation of Somali engineers to be innovative leaders, responsible stewards of Somalia’s resources, and creative problem solvers.

To our prospective students, we would like to say, if you choose the Banadir University – Faculty of Engineering & Technology to purse for higher education, you will have our continued support. We offer you an outstanding learning environment, access to knowledge resources, computer, free internet etc.

Over the next few years we will continue this process of self-evaluation, renewal and growth of both our academic programs, staff and our infrastructure.  We are currently working on a 10-year plan that will help guide us through what I hope will be interesting times.

Our motto is ‘together we succeed’. I believe strongly in this and I hope that all of you reading this message, our students (present, and future), community supporters, Benadir Foundation and members of KEI professionals of Engineering community (Kulan Engineering Institution) will all lend a hand in our planning exercise.  I firmly believe that with a clear strategy, and with your support, the Faculty of Engineering will continue to grow and change to adjust to the complex demands of the future. Our Faculty of Engineering has tremendous opportunities before it.  

We thank you for taking the time to read this important document. I take also this opportunity to thank the Benadir foundation members for the support they have rendered to the University till now, particularly, the Faculty of Engineering & Technology.
